Wines For Valentines!

February 8, 2008

Il Cuore Chardonnay ’05
This vintage of IL CUORE Chardonnay was produced from grapes grown exclusively in the cool coastal region of Mendocino County. Vineyards in this area invoke Chardonnays that are fresh with apple and pear flavors, complemented by floral nuances in the bouquet. A nine percent component of Viognier was blended to enhance aromas and add complexity on the palate..
Allyson’s Pairing: St. Andre Tripple Crème

Montelliana Prosecco NV
Dry and well-balanced flavor This sparkler displays a light straw color and copious amounts of lively bubbles. It has a fresh, citrusy aroma with flavors of peach, mango and orange. Sure to impress when served in tall Champagne flutes. Perfect as an aperitif and a great accompaniment for hors d'oeuvres.
Allyson’s Pairing: Rouge et Noir Petit Camembert

Louis Bouillot Cremant De Bourgogene
Louis Bouillot was founded in 1877 by Jean Bouillot in Nuits-Saint-Georges, and soon turned to the creation of dry, sparkling Burgundies. "Pale salmon color. Toasty, yeasty aromas add scents of cinnamon and plum. The fruit is even more apparent on the palate, where plum and strawberry flavors predominate. It's fairly full-bodied." The Wine Enthusiast
Allyson’s Pairing: Soignon Boucherondin

Montavina Zinfandel ’04
At Montevina and in Amador County, Zinfandel is what they do best. Shallow topsoils, granite hardpan, hot summer days, and cool summer nights make a fabulous home for this varietal. Dark smoky molasses and hickory toast aromas warm the nose. Blackberry flavors are spiced with pepper, clove, and anise like homemade preserves. A long lingering caramel finish touched by dark toasty oak.
Allyson’s Pairing: Pecorino Ginepro

Lo Tango Malbec ’07
Mellow cherry-cranberry aromas and a trace of fresh cut wood that adds to the fruit without over shadowing it. The color undeniably purple. As with most Malbec's I've tried, soft yet lush structure. Medium body and finish yet firm, nice tannic feel. Earthy dark plum, dark mocha and a slight exotic spicy flavor.
Allyson’s Pairing: Rogue Creamery Crater lake Blue

Rosenblum Cellars Desiree
All curves and sinful indulgence, Désirée is a bit of a bad girl, but in all the right ways. Like a long, seductive kiss that never seems to end, the essence of Désirée is playful, enticing and fun. Conceived as a deliciously decadent Californian interpretation of the great Port wines, Désirée Chocolate Dessert Wine is an exotic blend of Zinfandel, along with two of Portugal’s classic grape varieties and an infusion of rich, opulent chocolate.
Allyson’s Pairing: Fran’s Dark Chocolate Hearts
